Doomsday prophet ‘flabbergasted’ world didn’t end

There have been many people before Harold Camping that used beliefs about religious texts to create power bases by claiming to have "inspired" knowledge of the exact date the end of the word will take place. And then, when they are proven to be untrue, simply walk away. Camping is trying to get off the hook by just saying he's "flabbergasted."

It would be comical if he had not persuaded a lot of people to make some very bad decisions about their relationships with others and their finances. The lives of not only the adults who bought in to Camping's BS (belief system), but the futures of their children, who had no options, will be profoundly affected -- some forever.

Over the years I have met & heard from a number of people who sold, gave away, or donated everything they owned because some Bible guru convinced them that he or she knew the thoughts of God. The day after the end didn't come, the reality of their decisions always set in as the consequences of their actions come crashing down on them.

I remember one man who told me what it felt like to realize that he had brought his family from Texas to a mountain top in Israel, fully believing they world all rise up into the clouds and meet Jesus. He said the whole group just stood there and looked at each other when the appointed time passed. He had sold his house, cars, furniture, and everything else to prepare for the end of the world. As he stood there looking at his wife & kids he knew that he had nothing to take them back to nor the money to take them anywhere.

Family members helped bring them back to Texas and soon after returning his wife divorced him & took the kids with her. I won't share his thoughts about what should be done to "false prophets," but you will find his opinion in the clearly stated in the Bible.

Protect yourself & your family by getting the FACTS -- especially if you believe in "the Bible." My Bible is a very important part of my life, but I understand the Biblical Heritage that brought it to me.

Why did they lay their coats at Saul's feet?

The witnesses, laying their coats at the feet of Saul, were the men that would cast the first stones at Stephen in Acts 7. Why did they all lay their coats at Saul’s feet? The Talmud contains a very interesting account of the act of stoning that may provide the answer. “When the trial was over, they take him [the condemned person] out to be stoned. The place of stoning was at a distance from the court, as it is said, ‘Take out the one who has cursed.’ [i] A man stands at the entrance of the court; in his hand is a signaling flag [Hebrew   sudarin = sudar , ‘scarf, sweater’]. A horseman was stationed far away but within sight of him. If one [of the judges] says, ‘I have something [more] to say in his favor,’ he [the signaler] waves the   sudarin , and the horseman runs and stops them [from stoning him]. Even if [the condemned person] himself says, ‘I have something to say in my favor,’ they bring him back, even four of five times, only provided that there is some substance to what he

Are Saul and Paul the Same Person?

There has always been some confusion over whether Saul and Paul is the same person. The confusion begins in the Book of Acts. ● “Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul . . . he brought him to Antioch . . . for a whole year they taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called ‘ Christians ’ in Antioch .” ( Acts 11:25-26 ) ● “ Then Agrippa said to Paul , `You almost persuade me to become a Christian .’” ( Acts 26:28) ● “ Then Saul , who also  is called   Paul . . . ” ( Acts 13:9a ) Based on the three verses above, we would assume they are references to the same person – but is he the Paul we read about in the Epistles? The name “ Saul ” doesn’t appear in the Epistles. In order to answer that question we must examine the stories of the “ conversion experiences ” of Saul in Acts and Paul in Galatians . Pay close attention to the time periods and places mentioned in both accounts. Saul’s experience is found in Acts 9 and it took
