The Pharisees Sat in Moses’ Seat

Then Yeshua said to the crowds and to the disciples, “The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. Therefore, whatever they may tell you do and keep; but do not do according to their works; because they say and do not.” (Matthew 23:1-3) The three verses above contain clues that reveal a great deal about the real Yeshua and his Jewish world. The first clue reveals a great deal about the two groups that gathered to hear him – the crowds and the disciples . The information recorded in the Synoptic Gospels ( Matthew, Mark & Luke ) also reveal a great deal about Yeshua as a rabbi . Was Jesus a Palestinian and Did Allah Give the Land to the Palestinians?

In some mysterious manner, the Canaanites are said to have become the ancestors of Palestinians.  Furthermore, contrary to all understanding, the Palestinian narrative promotes the idea that Jesus was a Palestinian, rather than a Jew. . . Professor Dana argues there are ten passages in the Koran that state that Allah bequeathed Palestine to the Jewish people who will inherit the land.  He also states there are no passages bequeathing the land to any other people -- not to Muslims, Arabs, or Palestinians.  Dana says that in the Koran, the Jewish people are commanded by Allah to conquer and take the land from the peoples who had defiled Allah by worshipping idols. Roman Rule in Yeshua’s World

Yeshua’s childhood trips with his family to Jerusalem, as well his daily life in the Galilee, would have made him very aware of the tensions between his people and the Romans – as well as those between the Jewish sects over the presence of the Romans on Jewish soil . The Birth of Christian Orthodoxy

Until at least A.D. 325, when the Council of Nicea formulated the first creed (at least for the Eastern division of the Roman Empire), there were Christian churches but not a Christian church, not one that was catholic, or universal. British Christianity & the Business of Selling Human Lives

Slave-trading had become a huge English industry by the 1780s. In four centuries, the European slave trade carried over ten million slaves from Africa, over sixty percent of them between 1721 and 1820. Some of them went east. Thus the East India Company had a few slaves, but left the business in 1762. By then the trade had become largely transatlantic, shipping an average of 60,000 a year, with Portuguese America the chief market, followed by the West Indies and the United States. Archaeologists in Syria find ancient 'wand' engraved with human faces

Archaeologists have discovered a 9,000-year-old 'wand' near an ancient burial site in southern Syria, with two human faces engraved on it. The item, made of cow bone, is thought to date from the late 9th millennium BC. Archaeologists excavated it from Tell Qarassa, an Early Neolithic site. This is among the few archaeological sites not damaged in the fighting in Syria, which on Saturday marked its third anniversary. The wand was found near a burial site, where 30 headless skeletons were discovered previously. See picture & rad article at -- http://www.haaretz.com/archaeology/1.580267

The Real Ten Commandments (Facts Instead of Traditions) – Part 3

In Part I we followed Moses on his first three trips up and down the mountain – and each time he returned with the stone tablets . In Part 2 we followed Moses on his fourth trip, on which he was given the Law of the Altar and the MISHPATIM – but no stone tablets . So, we will continue to follow Moses again and see what happens on his fifth trip. Click here to see what happens next .

The Real Ten Commandments (Facts Instead of Traditions) – Part 2

Let’s continue our search for the Real Ten Commandments . In Part 1 we discovered the following: (1) When the “traditional” (institutional) versions of the Ten Commandments were given Moses was standing at the base of the mountain with the people – not on top of the mountain. (2) There were no references to two stone tablets in Exodus chapters 19 or 20. (3) The words “Ten Commandments” did not appear in Exodus chapters 19 or 20. Don’t you find it amazing that even with the above facts, millions of Bible readers picture Moses standing on the top of Mt. Sinai holding two stone tablets with the Ten Commandments every time they hear or read Exodus chapters 19 & 20 – even though nothing supports that image in the biblical text? In Part I we followed Moses on three trips up and down the mountain – and he did not return with the stone tablets . So, now we will pick up the story as Moses prepares for his fourth trip – CLICK HERE TO FOLLOW MOSES .

The Real Ten Commandments (Facts Instead of Institutional Traditions) Part 1

We recently completed a series called “ Four Versions of the Ten Commandments ,” in which we examined three versions of the words recorded in Exodus 20 which Judaism, Catholicism and Protestantism call the “Ten Commandments.” We also provided our translation of those verses too. Are you ready for a surprise? The Real Ten Commandments aren’t recorded in Exodus 20! That’s just a religious tradition that has been promoted for many centuries . Amazingly, groups have fought, Supreme Court cases have been tried, lots of monuments have been made – and all of these are not even about the Real Ten Commandments . This is the first in a series of blogs that will lead you to the Real Ten Commandments that were recorded on the two tablets of stone Moses brought down from the mountain. 50 People in the Bible Confirmed Archaeologically

At least 50 people mentioned in the Bible have been identified in the archaeological record. Their names appear in inscriptions written during the period described by the Bible and in most instances during or quite close to the lifetime of the person identified.” The extensive Biblical and archaeological documentation supporting the BAR study is published here in a web-exclusive collection of endnotes detailing the Biblical references and inscriptions referring to each of the 50 figures. Religious 'Nones' Defy Simple Political And Racial Categorization As Numbers Grow

(RNS) In recent surveys, the religious “ nones ” — as in, “none of the above” — appear to lead in the faith marketplace. In fact, “none” could soon be the dominant label U.S. adults pick when asked to describe their religious identity. But they may not be who you think they are. Today, “nones” include many more unbranded believers than atheists, and an increasingly diverse racial and ethnic mix. And, researchers say, this is already making nones’ attitudes and opinions less predictably liberal on social issues. A February survey by the Public Religion Research Institute of Americans found: * 21 percent are “unaffiliated” (a diverse group including atheists, seculars and people who still say they believe in God). * 20 percent are Catholic. * 19 percent are white evangelical. “Nones are dancing on the razor’s edge of leading,” said Robert P. Jones, CEO of PRRI. Read complete survey at --  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/14/religious-nones_n_4956733.html?&a

6,000-year-old crown found in Dead Sea cave revealed

The world’s oldest crown, which was famously discovered in 1961 as part of the Nahal Mishar Hoard, along with numerous other treasured artefacts, are to be revealed in New York University's Institute for the Study of the Ancient World as part of the 'Masters of Fire: Copper Age Art from Israel' exhibit. The ancient crown dates back to the Copper Age between 4000–3500 BC, and is just one out of more than 400 artefacts that were recovered in a cave in the Judean Desert near the Dead Sea more than half a century ago.  The crown is shaped like a thick ring and features vultures and doors protruding from the top. It is believed that it played a part in burial ceremonies for people of importance at the time.  The Nahal Mishmar Hoard was found by archaeologist Pessah Bar-Adon hidden in a natural crevice and wrapped in a straw mat in a cave on the northern side of Nahal Mishmar, which became known as the ‘Cave of Treasures’.  The 442 prized artefacts made from copper, bronze, ivory

Ancient Egyptian language had no word for “animal” as a separate category until Christianity

Unlike Greeks and Romans , ancient Egyptians believed animals possess a soul, or ba, just as humans do. “We forget how significant it is to ascribe a soul to an animal,” says Bleiberg. “For ancient Egyptians, animals were both physical and spiritual beings.” In fact, the ancient Egyptian language had no word for “animal” as a separate category until the spread of Christianity.   In Genesis 1, water creatures & animals were created with souls.
