"It came to pass when men began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of ELOHIYM saw that the daughters of the men were beautiful, and they took for themselves women of whomsoever they chose." (Genesis 6:1-2)
The ancient world had many myths telling of sexual relations between male gods and human women that produced children who were regarded as half-gods or were raised to the full status of deities. The Torah, however, doesn't mention the creation of any other gods prior to the above verses. There are also no references to the creation of angels. But, if you read popular commentaries on these verses you find many references to gods and angels.
So, what do you think the ancient author had in mind, if it wasn't the same message as that of the popular themes of ancient pagan myths?
