Pope suggests it's better to be an atheist than a bad Christian

If you're a Christian who exploits people, leads a double life or manages a "dirty" business, perhaps it's better not to call yourself a believer, Pope Francis suggested in a homily on Thursday in Rome. "So many Christians are like this, and these people scandalize others," Francis said during morning Mass at Casa Santa Marta, according to Vatican Radio. "How many times have we heard -- all of us, around the neighborhood and elsewhere -- 'But to be a Catholic like that, it's better to be an atheist.' It is that: scandal." "But what is scandal? Scandal is saying one thing and doing another." In the Catholic Church, causing scandal also a grave offense. . . . The Pope suggested the latter, in characteristically blunt language. Yeshua’s Torah Readings for Shabbat (January 28 2017)

And Yeshua came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on Shabbat, as was his custom. (Luke 4:16-17) Long before Yeshua was born until today, Jewish people have and continue to gather in synagogues and hear the words of their Scriptures read by members who are chosen to do the readings at each service. The portions to be read are determined by schedule in which the entire Torah ( Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers & Deuteronomy ) is read in either a one year or three year cycle. Over the years there have been a number of differing versions of scheduled readings, as there continue to be today among Jewish groups.
